What is a Smart Home?

A Smart Home is made up of different products which are all connected to the internet and therefore they can be controlled via your phone or via voice control. A Smart Home can for example consist of a fridge which tells you when it is time to cook the chicken before it gets too old, a coffee machine that starts brewing coffee when your alarm clock rings or a light which automatically turns on and off in sync with the sun.

In a Smart Home you can adjust your home and your devices according to your daily rhythm since the main purpose of Smart Home is to make your every day life easier.

The light in a Smart Home

Your home does not need to be completely high-tech before your can call it a Smart Home and even small changes and a few smart devices can quickly give you some pretty good advantages.

A Smart Home with light which easily can be adjusted to your needs can save you money on energy since it automatically can turn off when you are not home.

You can also make your light turn on when your alarm clock starts in the morning or when the sun rises. By doing so, you have a light and nice room when you wake up and you do not have to fumble about in the dark to get the lights on.

Lights that are connected to controllers can also work as extra security and by turning them on when you are out you can make it look like someone is actually home.

MultiWhite® lights makes it possible for you to control the colour temperature and thus you can decide if your rooms should have a clear, refreshing, white light or a calming and warmer light. In a Smart Home you can set the lights in your kid’s room to shift to a warmer colour temperature when you approach naptime. By doing so, the child will experience a calm and natural transition from day to night.

How do I do this?

In order for your lights to be Smart Home compatible you need to attach a controller. It is this controller which connects to the internet and therefore it is the controller you control when you make settings for your lights and then the controller communicates the settings to the light.

At Loevschall we have developed 3 controllers. Two for MultiWhite® lights and one for SingleWhite lights. The two variations of MultiWhite® Controllers are one with Wi-Fi and one with Bluetooth.

In order to use MultiWhite® Controllers and thus get to control the lights colour temperature, your lights needs to be MultiWhite® lights. You can find these lights here.

A SingleWhite Controller does not need any special lights – but with this setup you can not control the colour temperature. This controller can be attached to your already existing 12V spots or lights and when you have installed the controller, your old lights become a part of your Smart Home.
