Sustainable product development

Innovation

It acquires both a willingness to change and innovation to move away from “business as usual” and at Loevschall we have the deepest respect for everyone really to make a sustainable change. We have already successfully gone through several smaller project as the Noir-lamps which are created with an ECO-design-thinking, or our wireless and batteryless kinetic switches which are not dependent on neither electrical power nor batteries. We have a clear ambition about continuing to develop or business in a more sustainable direction and we are excited to take our customers with us on this journey.

In order to raise the bar, we have found one place where we are seeing good and ambitious opportunities for improvements. Namely; Plastic packaging.

We have a clear ambition about changing all our plastic packaging to re-used plastic or a likewise sustainable material in 2030.

Sustainable packaging

Every year an enormous amount of product packaging is waisted, not only to pack and protect our products – but to pack and protect products all over the world. This waste often ends as garbage in our lands and oceans, polluting and damaging nature. Packaging is efficient. It prevents that the products brake during transportation and it keeps small parts collected in order to make sure that you can find them. However, this does not mean that we cannot rethink which materials we are using to pack and protect our products with. Therefore, we have initiated a project about using more sustainable, reusable and reused material in our product packaging instead of the traditional solutions as new plastic and cardboard. We will start by looking at our use of plastic and on this page your can read more about this project.

Reusable plastic

Every day 820.000 tons of new plastic are produced requiring tons of water and resources, but why make something new when the old is still usable? At Loevschall we are using plastic in our product packaging, but we are continuously working on changing this. Therefore, we are running a project which aims to investigate how we can reduce our use of plastic in our product packaging by using reused plastic or another sustainable material. With this project we are hoping to reduce our own use of plastic and inspire our customers and competitors by leading this change and actively continue to pack our products carefully but without harming the environment unnecessary.

Doing one thing at a time helps us reach our goals

To change something, especially something as major as rethinking the way we are using packaging is not a sprint – it is a marathon. In order to not crash against the wall and watch as our ambitious project crumbles, we are working with prominent project management tools and we are taking one thing at a time.  This means that we will start by changing the packaging materials in our most sold mirror: Godhavn. Soon you will experience that your Godhavn mirror will be delivered to you in a more sustainable packaging and we have an ambition about rapidly evolving our methods until we have changed all our product packaging.
